Prof. Endre SzécsényiDepartment of Aesthetics, ELTE - Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest Director, Research Centre for Aesthetics, Nature and Environment EducationHe graduated M.A. in Aesthetics and Hungarian Philology (Literature and Linguistics) from the University of Pécs in 1990. He received his Ph.D. in Philosophy in 2001, and his habilitation (venia legendi) in 2010 from ELTE - Eötvös Loránd University. He obtained his D.Sc. (Doctor of HAS) in Philosophy from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2025.ExperienceHe taught as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Pécs (1990-1994) and was Lecturer in Literature at the Kecskemét Teacher Training College (1991-1994). He held a Senior Lectureship at the Department of Aesthetics of the University of Pécs between 1995 and 2002, and in the Institute of Theoretical Studies of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design between 2003 and 2005. He has taught at the Department of Aesthetics in the Institute for Art Theory and Media Studies of ELTE as a Recurrent Visiting Lecturer (1999-2002), Senior Lecturer (2003-2006) and Reader (Associate Professor) since 2006. He was appointed a Full Professor in 2015 (in Hungary, the title of "University Professor" - which can be received from the President of Hungary - is a prerequisite for this position). He was Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow (2014-2016), then Honorary Research Fellow (2016-2024) at the University of Aberdeen.Miscel.He has held several research fellowships abroad including Mellon Fellowship (twice) and Marie Sklodowska-Curie Intra-European Fellowship, e.g., in IASH (Edinburgh), NIAS (Wassenaar), IWM (Vienna), RIISS (Aberdeen). He was one of the editors of BUKSZ - Budapest Review of Books between 1997 and 2014, and since 2025 he has been working as an editor again, in addition, he has been the series-editor of the Laokoón Könyvek (Laocoön Books) series of L'Harmattan Publishing House since 2008. In 2020, he founded the Research Centre for Aesthetics, Nature and Environment (RCANE).
